IVF and ICSI

IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) and ICSI (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection) are two commonly used assisted reproductive techniques at Creation Fertility and IVF Centre to help individuals or couples who are struggling with infertility.

  1. In IVF, eggs are retrieved from the woman’s ovaries and fertilized with sperm in a laboratory dish. This process takes place outside the woman’s body, hence the term “in vitro” which means “in glass.” The fertilized embryos are then monitored and allowed to develop for a few days before one or more are transferred back into the woman’s uterus with the hope of achieving pregnancy. IVF can be an option for variousfertilityissues, including blocked fallopian tubes, endometriosis, low sperm count, and unexplained infertility.
  1. ICSI is a specialized form of IVF specifically used in cases where there aremaleinfertility factors, such as low sperm count or poor sperm quality. With ICSI, instead of mixing thousands of sperm with each egg, a single sperm is selected and directly injected into each egg using a specialized micromanipulation technique. This increases the chances of fertilization when the sperm quality is compromised.

It is important to note that IVF and ICSI are complex processes and they are usually carried out under the guidance of an Embryologist. Additionally, success rates vary depending on various factors such as age, overall health, and the specific circumstances of the individual or couple.
